IN THE PRESS

..."A very original debut, a blending of several musical worlds...
The album is built around a successful marriage of musical colours, with beautiful synthesizer playing by the leading lady, rock-solid anchoring by Bernard Paganotti's bass, and shimmering percussion parts"... (Jean-Christophe Alluin • Notes)

"This French release is unique in that it is universal. Almost entirely instrumental, it tackles every possible musical genre and, because of that, may elude a lot of reviewers' attention. Is this classical music, rock, jazz, new-age ? Which audience is this intended for ? And how can one describe it ? I would be tempted to see it as a non-limitative confrontation of primitive worlds and 20th century technology. For example : "Mondes parallèles" ("parallel worlds") mixes pygmy singing with subtle percussion and lyrical piano (played by Lydia's sister Sophia). A "diabolical carousel", to quote the title of the last track ("Manège infernal"), which brings together both keyboardists along with two outstanding percussionists, a subtle drummer and an essential bass player, Bernard Paganotti. All these amalgamated ideas (including, at one point, a solemn choir with farmyard noises in the background), about-turns and alternations, are brought together into a fresh and innovative musical cocktail. Maybe I am just dreaming, but I'd like to think of this CD as the heralding of a new age of musical poetry and non-conformism."
(M2P • Nice Matin)

… "somewhere between the worlds of technology and ethnic music, Lydia Domancich has ventured into previously unheard musical climates, by turns festive or mystical" … (Batteur Magazine • Frédéric Soupa)

"Her piano playing is surprising, both unexpected and inventive... Creativity and lyricism are present throughout the album... A geographical turbulence - compulsory listening !" (Dreaming • Thierry Moreau)
